Photographer's Note
A typical sauna building, nowadays usually seen with cottages since all the modern houses have saunas inside the house. Although this picture was not taken in Midsummer day, this is the kind of view I'll always have of it inside my head. Well, to be honest, one crucial thing is missing. Smoke coming from the chimney...
Midsummer along with Christmas are too "sacred" sauna-days for us. The sauna is warmed early in the middle of the day before eating. "Vihta" which is a bunch of branches from a birch, is required to generate a lovely odour as well as to enhance the blood circulation at the skin by whisking it. Swimming and sausages cooked on the stove is something everyone can enjoy, but especially the children.

Hi Pauli,
A beautiful picture of this Finnish institution! Every time I have been to Finland there has also been a sauna! This picture also has good colours and an attractive reflection in the lake!
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hei Pauli ja myöhästyneet tervetulotoivotukset TE:hen!
What could be more Finnish than this kind of view with a sauna aside a lake, river or seashore. Just a traditional rowing boat is missing here. :) A charming shot with a good balanced composition, very pleasant and natural colours. Maybe the sky is slightly overexposed, but that is a minor thing here. TFS!
Terveisin,
Lasse
