Photographer's Note
Hawker Hurricane performing at Finland International Airshow at Helsinki-Malmi Airport.
This Hurricane is painted on WWII colours of Finnish Air Force, but it never served in Finland. It was restored in Britain and painted after an actual prototype. The original HC-465 was captured from Russians after a crash landing and it served Finnish Air Force in 1944.
The sign on the fuselage was the sign of Finnish Air Force 1918-1945, and is not related to the emblem of the nazi Germany.

Hi Kari
so you say the emblem is NOT realed to the Nazi Germany??? thats so strange because its almost a copy of it.
why would they use such a similar emblem? Personally, that makes NO sense to me at all as to why the government chose that, or at least didnt change it.
as for the photo itself, i'm a big fan.
love the light, love the subject, love the angle so we can see the underside too.
nice shot
cheers

Hi, Kari,
Don't worry, a lot of people know that a swastica used by numerous countries in the past. This is very brave idea to show this plane. I can imagine so many persons are shocked with this sign. But this is only part of history, without ideology. TFS!

Hi Kari
A Hurricane with svasticas! After having read your note, I understand better.
It's a great shot.... looks as if you took the photo from an other airplane - and not from the ground. Splendid details :)

Hi Kari,
Thank you for your critique today on my photo of a Spitfire with a Hurricane!
As soon as I saw this I got a bit of a fright - how ignorant I am that I had not realised that the swastika was used as an emblem of the Finnish Air Force until 1945. And, of course, the swastika was actually a symbol of peace in many religions for thousands of years - long before the Nazis adopted it.
This is a much nicer photograph than mine. I like the interesting sky with its puffy white clouds and I like how the aeroplane actually appears to be moving rather than just static in the sky. Your composition is just right, the colours are true, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness are excellent.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. I think you have been wise to use 1/500 second for this exposure as we can see plenty of movement in the propeller - my photo doesn't show the movement so well at 1/1250 sec.
