Photographer's Note

Vysehrad is not only the former castle and later fortress in the top of the Vysehrad hill. It is also the name of a small Prague's quarter along the Vltava River between northern Vysehrad's walls and the Charles Square, bordered by Nusle and Karlov from the South. Up to the beginning of 20th century this place was called Podskali (i.e. Underrocks) and was occupied by people whose job relates to the river -- raftsmen, ice-men and river boat pilots.

The photo is taken from the same place as yestarday's picture. One of the Vysehrad's fortress bastions is on the left, behind it a bit of the Vltava River with an anchoring botel (boat hotel) and Smichov quarter. In the very upper right corner you can see Strahov and the western end of the Prague Castle.
