Photographer's Note

According to old legends Princess Libuse lived in Vysehrad before the 8th century and from here she established Prague as the next seat of the Premyslids dynasty. Historic reality is different though. Prague Castle, founded by the first Czech Christian Prince Borivoj I around the year 880 is actually older than Vysehrad.

However, that doesn't mean Vysehrad is not old. The first evidence for Vysehrad's existence dates back to the mid-10th century, when Prince Boleslav II made it his seat instead of Prague Castle. The oldest preserved building in Vysehrad is St Martin's Rotunda in the photo, built in Romanesque style around 1100.
