Photographer's Note
This rural house from 19th century is example of rare vernacular architectural style - South Bohemian Baroque.
Typical features of South Bohemian baroque:
- The homesteads with painted and decorated gates and gables can be seen around the characteristic oblong small square with the small pond.
- The majority of houses have been preserved with their inner trichotomy, which was planned for the living of three generations.
Holasovice, one of many beautiful south bohemian villages, has been protected by UNESCO since 1998. It was first european rural architecture in
UNESCO World Heritage List.
The paintings on frontage of this house (from left side):
1. St. Florian - patron of firemans
2. crucifixion
3. St.Venceslas (Sv. Václav - in czech) - patron of Bohemia

That's new architecture for me, I like the soft colours and the way it could almost be just 2 dimensional. very informative note too, good shot.

Nice photo Jiri. I like blue walls and blue sky separated by a triangular top of the house. Good composition, well done.

Very interesting architecture, Jiri. I like the soft blue color. Interesting shape of the roof line. I'd add some contrast to improve teh colors of the paintings and the sky. Well done and intersting note.

I love old Czech architecture, all those beautiful old houses, I have been to some beautiful Czech cities like Telc, Slavonice, Kutna Hora... but I have never been to Holasovice, I hope one day i'll get there. nice picture

Gorgeous blue on blue. The bright light and the facade do, as Midnight sun says, give this a 2D feel - like a card. Well done.
