--American University in Bulgaria (in Blagoevgad)(abbr. AUBG): is a private, selective, residential liberal arts college located in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Established in 1991, it has 1072 students from 26 countries in Eastern Europe and beyond (as of 2007). The language of instruction at AUBG is English. The university has three sources of funding: its endowment (which came largely from gifts from the United States Agency for International Development and the Soros Foundation), gifts, and tuition. The mission of the university is "to educate future leaders committed to serving the values of an open, democratic society.

Baccalaureate degrees conferred by AUBG are accredited in both Bulgaria and the United States. AUBG has its school accreditation in the United States from New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The university employs 74 faculty members, about half of which are expatriate Americans, with most of the rest coming from Bulgaria. Approximately seventy percent of the students come from Bulgaria, with the rest coming from neighboring countries....etc..From Wikipedia...

* Blagoevgrad info! The region around Blagoevgrad has abundant natural resources. The Blagoevgrad area is part of the region, known as "Pirin" which is characterized by its unique geographic location, physical beauty of the surrounding mountains, and rich flora and fauna. Three majestic mountain ranges grace the plain -- the Rila, Pirin and Rhodopes. Picturesque lakes and roaring rivers provide the region with pure, fresh spring water. The names of the local rivers Bistritsa, Glazene, Struma and Mesta echo in the songs and the folklore of the region. The Blagoevgrad municipality has an ample supply of pure mineral water, river systems and lush mountain forests. The landscape is varied and beautiful. The physical characteristics combine to make Blagoevgrad the largest and most important town in southwestern Bulgaria. It is an important cultural, administrative, and industrial center for the entire southwestern part of the country.

Hi Georgios,
Yeah that's the thing about american universities, they are so expensice at home that they have to build new ones abroad so that students can afford them... good comprehensive view of the place, it is a modern post cold war building but still it is influenced by the style of that era.

Hi Georgios,

All the 3 shots taken at dusk are well illuminated, but I prefer the 1st one in the WS with a close up view of the building under warm light, I guess I like the ambiance. Good and informative notes

This must be the same square as the previous image but from a different viewpoint. Also a different time of day as here you have timed your shot for an early blue hour. Very well exposed . Interesting to see the additional information provided by the WSs.

Hello Georgios, j' like the composition of most rigorous, all is well exposed, much of detail reveals L `importance of the buildings, in particular urban lighting somewhat distracted this architecture carried out well, the WS and its closes-up on AUBG gives much d' effect with this photograph, the image gives an impression of cleanliness or all appears with its place loan to satisfy any student and their parents, sincerely .....................Bonjour Georgios,
j'aime la composition des plus rigoureuses, tous est bien exposé, beaucoup de détailles révèle l‘importance des bâtiments, notamment l’éclairage urbain distrait quelque peu cette architecture bien réalisée, les WS et ses gros plans sur AUBG donne beaucoup d'effet à cette photo, l’image donne une impression de propreté ou tout paraît à sa place prêt pour satisfaire n’importe quel étudiant et leurs parents, bien amicalement

I remember another photo from this area in day-time, you had stay long time at this area, I like lamp in white lighting giving modern feel especially with it modern design, the oren color lighting inside the building looking as the light of candle give old feel , nice color of dim sky, distinct image, good shoot.

belle photo de cette place très jolie avec a l' arrière plan ce grand batiment de l' université Américaine de Bulgarie.
