Diversity / Eclecticism

A rotating installation on the Korenmarkt, smack in the middle of Gent, displaying cultural diversity. Behind it the former Post office, a 1917 eclectic edifice combining amongst others neo-classicist and neo-gothical elements and now the 'Plaza' mall.

I was of course struck by the contrast in forms and textures and while editing this one I became fascinated by the two ways differences are used here. As a set of ever changing and swerving encounters in the installation and as a combination of cultural and stylistic citations, fixed in stone in the façade of the building. Change and consolidation…. It must have been a conscious act to place this installation at exactly this spot.

PCS2 tech: slightly cropped, altered the contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, enhanced the colour- and luminosity edges and surfaces, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.
