This visit during Covid-19 to Oostveld Oedelem, this is allowed in Belgium at the moment
Saturday a new bicycle trip of 35 km with different nice old farms are restauration to very nice farms.
History
The area used to be heathland in the possession of the Ter Doest Abbey. Part of the area was later forested. Limited buildings developed in the rural area to the east. The Ferraris map from the 1770s shows here, among other things, the hamlet of Den Hoorn along the road from Oedelem to Knesselare, and a street hamlet called Nieunstraete 1.5 kilometers to the northeast. In the east there was still a piece of uncultivated field area, the Swarte Veldt, adjacent to the even more eastern Maldegem Veldt (Maldegemveld).
The hamlets grew further and the buildings gradually continued along the connecting road between the two centers, the current Tinhoutstraat. The Atlas der Buurtwegen from the mid-19th century still shows the separate hamlet of Den Hoorn in the south and already gives the name Oostveld for the larger hamlet in the north-east. The Black Field Mill was built here around 1800, but it fell into disuse and a steam mill was replaced. In 1837 a spin school was established in the Oostveld, where the catechism was also taught. In the second half of the century the school was further expanded and a chapel was also built in 1890.
I hope you like it

Hello John,
You had reasonably good weather yesterday, The light clouds didn't much affect the clarity and colours of the photo. These buildings are all quite pretty with their brick walls and brick roofs. They are nicely placed at the far side of the still freshly green field and in front of a row of trees. The photo is well composed and the wooden fence connects me with the buildings.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hallo John,
Een uitstekende foto van dit groepje huizen met bakstenen en witte gevels op het boerenerf. Ze zijn te zien in een mooi, zacht zonlicht. De voorgrond met de groene weide en het diagonale hek is ook erg goed.

Hi John,
The fence and the trees are framing well the farm. The point of view is showing the details of the house and of the farm buildings. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hi John
The diagonal wooden fence adds both linear perspective & dynamism. Good sharpness and a charming rustic scene. Tfs!

Hi John,
lovely rural scenery. The covid restrictions motivate us to explore and discover variety of places which are new and which we would not consider otherwise. That is an opportunity for new photographs.
Nice composition with the fence and tree framing the farm from the right. Very well balanced exposure of various areas with well maintained sky as well.
Very well done,
M

Hi John
A lovely peaceful retreat! Very nice home and beautifully kept rural setting enriched by lush greenery. So very photogenic in my eyes, with the fence extends the feel of depth so nicely. Impressive shot with visual impact.

Hello John,
Everything about this farm is so in keeping, from these Dutch barn roofs to the rustic, wooden fencing!
You have positioned yourself well, to use the fence as an excellent, textured guideline, towards the trio of farm buildings.
The naked branches and the heavy sky are all part of this lovely, autumn scene.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hallo John,
Vele groeten, Paul

Bonjour, cher ami John,
Les fermes gardent toujours leur intérêt, leur beauté propre avec leur architecture spécifique.
J’aime battre la campagne de cette façon.
Amitiés.

Hi John.
Delicious composition with these three houses, I suppose that in the typical style of the region, I love them. The wooden fence gives a great perspective to the image, and the big trees the beauty that the field always brings.
Sharpness, lighting, color and magnificent composition; all are perfectly realized factors in this beautiful image.
Well done. I like very much.
Have a nice day. All the best.
Luis.
