Hello John,
Now and then you show us a portrait. They are always interesting because they bring us so close to the motif. Thanks to the excellently managed light and the perfect sharpness we can study the faces into the smallest details, perhaps sometimes so closely that the person on the photo would feel uncomfortable if he/she was aware of our curious eyes. But this is a great shot of this original elderly gentleman. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Mooi uitstapje naar de portretfotografie. Een fantastisch scherp beeld. We weten dan wel niet zijn naam, maar kunnen wel al zijn baardharen tellen.

If there was any doubt that the quality of digital photography has surpassed analogue photography, this perfect portrait removes the doubt. The sharpness of the photo is astonishing. The artist has been beautifully photographed by a modern Flemish master. Well done.

In comments that you and Gert offered for my Stromboli photo, I wanted to reproduce what I wrote to him: ""I remember seeing an old Ingrid Bergman film shot on a volcanic island. is this guy for real? what a great looking portrait of this older gentlemen.

I really like the side angled presentation as compared to one straight on in a forward direction, this is smartly composed.

Hi John,
you occasionally add some portraits for a change in between mainly architectural photography.
I am more into view and postcards but it is indeed great for a change to try something very different.
This is such a photogenic face with the beard making the most original aspect of it.
Very well seen and captured!!
