Salvador & Santiago

I am not the first member posting photos of the Dalí exhibition in Liège, Belgium. Nevertheless, I would like to add my impression of the encounter between the works of two famous Spanish artists, surrealist painter and sculptor Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) and neo-futuristic architect Santiagio Calatrava (1951).

The new railway station Liège-Guillemins, which opened in 2009, is the main station in the city of Liège and is used by 15,000 people every day. This year it was not only used as a railway station, but also as an exhibition of works by Salvador Dalí. Two of his sculptures can be seen here in front of and inside the railway station, the one in the foreground is called Triumph Elephant. The sculpture in the background, inside the railway station is Profile of Time with the famous melting pocket watch that is also featured in Dalí’s probably most famous painting The Persistence of Memory.
