2015 Visit to Kortrijk a city in Flanders Western, a city with a big history in Flanders.

Beguinage Sint-Elisabeth in Kortrijk: Church of Our Lady in the background

The beguinage of Kortrijk was surrounded by the burial castle, the city walls and the Sint-Maartenkerkhof and is close to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk and the Sint-Maartenskerk. The Kortrijk beguinage was destroyed several times: in 1302 at the time of the Battle of the Golden Spurs, in 1382 after the battle of Westrozebeke and again by the French in 1684.
The 41 houses date from the 17th century. The house with the double stepped gable (1649) was that of the grandmother. The remarkable stair tower is the corner tower of the former Sint-Annazaal from 1682. The original Gothic chapel was built in 1464 but rebuilt in the 18th century

I hope that you enjoy it
