One year ago I was in Kortrijk, special on photo hunt, the “Broeltowers” are real the proud of the city.

Broeltowers history:
The Broeltorens are two towers in the city of Kortrijk and are located along the Broelkaai and Resistance Kaai. The two towers with a bridge over the Lys river date back to the Middle Ages and are a protected monument.
These medieval towers are the last remaining vestiges of the old city fortifications. The southern tower, or Speyetoren (± 1385), was part of the ramparts of the Count's castle while the northern tower, or Ingelborchtoren (± 1413), was built to defend the city by means of primitive artillery equipment.
Only open during certain festivities.
During the year only accessible with a guide.

Dag John

Deze torens mochten niet ontbreken in je foto's van Kortrijk natuurlijk. Mooi scherp, mooie dag, beetje jammer van de lelijke architectuur op de achtergrond, maar dat is de schuld van de bouwpromotoren, niet van de fotograaf. ;)

PS: Kortijk is weggevallen in de locatie bovenaan, waarschijnlijk een zoveelste probleempje hier. Ik heb dit ook al eens gehad, kan je gewoon herstellen via 'edit'.

too bad we can't see how the city looked like in it's prime.
charming bridge too, thats another fine piece in the scene.

Wat een prachtige foto van deze twee torens aan weerszijden van de brug. Het licht is heel fijn en zorgt voor mooie kleuren. De vriendelijke wolken maken de achtergrond extra interessant. Heel mooi werk.

Ces deux tours à la toiture en poivrière donnent le ton de l'aspect médiéval. L'environnement moderne ne détruit en rien l'harmonie générale.

I like the symmetry of the 2 towers linked by a picturesque stone bridge. Good sharpness & the triangles formed by the 3 attic windows enhance the composition. The fg wall at right adds depth, layering and lead in lines. Tfs.

I think you have shown this place before, and why not? These towers are beautiful and so is the bridge between them. The very nice clouds enhance the beauty of the view along the river. That day last summer provided perfect colours and a wonderful atmosphere-

En kan je die brug over op een gewone dag zonder festiviteiten en zonder gids?
Die twee stevige torens zijn mooi gerestaureerd.
Het wolkendek tussen hen in oogt prachtig en echt zomers.
Heel helder en scherp gepresenteerd in een goede compositie.

Je me souviens très bien de cet endroit. J'y ai été à quelques occasions pour le travail. Je n'ai malheureusement pas pu profiter d'une aussi belle lumière sur ce pont avec ses belles tours de chaque côté.Superbe travail.

Hello John,

Yours and Lars's photographs are sitting side by side, each showing amazing clarity and beauty!
You had glorious weather with which to photograph the twin towers and adjoining bridge, and have captured the details of their size, design and textures perfectly.
I like how you have used the lichen covered wall as a very effective lead line.
The light from the right has helped to give a 3D effect to the towers, the shadows creating ab circular zig-zag pattern round the walls.

Superb composition with these two splendid towers, guarding each side of the bridge, is a wonderful ensemble, which along with the canal view, creates a spectacular image, the beautiful sky is a great bonus.

this is such a beautiful picture! I like the two towers, they are so unique and pretty and it is always nice to have a repeated element in the frame.
The bridge spans the two sharp structures.
You had a lovely weather here as well! The clouds so pretty decorate the blue sky. It all works together very picturesque!
