Back to my archive one year ago to Kortrijk during a visit and photo hunting.

History:
The construction of the Our Lady was launched in 1199 on the initiative of Count Baldwin IX. The church was within the Count's domain Kortrijk was fully walled and surrounded by walls, except for a portion to the Lys. From this early Gothic church remain the west façade, the nave and the transept about. The towers were built at the end of the 13th century. After the battle of Westrozebeke in 1382 the church was largely destroyed and rebuilt again. Later, the interior was decorated in baroque style.
After the Golden Spurs in 1302, close took place on the field Groening, the Flemings hung five hundred spurs of slain French knights in the choir, as thanks to Our Lady of Groeninge. Breton mercenaries took them, along with other valuables, in 1382 it after the battle of Westrozebeke. The tracks were later replaced by copies, which are still present in the church. The Our Lady hosts a number of art treasures, such as the Raising of the Cross' by Anthony Van Dyck.
Built in 1370 Count Louis of Male the Gravenkapel as a mausoleum for himself. In the chapel you will find the beautiful murals of the Counts of Flanders and the image of Saint Catherine (an acknowledged masterpiece). The stained glass windows accent grave character of the church: the counts of Flanders, knights in armor during the Golden Spurs and so on.
