Dear John,

It is a pleasure to be able to be among the first to review one of your spectacular photographs. The arrow-straight canal makes an eye catching stripe. I can imagine how it would be full of skaters on a safe skating day. This is as effective an example of one-point perspective as I've seen anywhere.

Incidentally, I sent you a link to the photobook I created for my granddaughter. That is from the European trip last August. I'll send you the link to the new one I just put together for the cruise to French Polynesia.

Hello John - The flat landscape emphasises the perspective of your winter shot. Trees, canal and pathways lead the eye uncompromisingly towards the light. Despite the lack of ND filter, I think the shot works well. I like the soft winter colour palette and light with it's slightly warm cast. Best regards rosemary

love this! Winter's stark landscape can also be incredibly beautiful and this shot illustrates that so perfectly. Captured flawlessly and a really powerful presentation.

The textural variety, interesting visual rhythm and the element of surprise from the star burst of the sun all make this shot very interesting and exciting. I also like the simplicity and the wide open space which is pleasing for the eyes. Great shot!

Hello John,

I wish I could have an afternoon stroll like this. Untouched snow is simply beautiful. Stunning scenery. Excellent perspective.

I also like how Matt Le Blanc's said that "the beauty differs in each season", but in addition I also think that the "beauty differs in each of your photos".

It's hard to believe, that next year, we will both have been on TE for 10 years!

Hallo John,

Sterke standpunt. want zowel de bevroren kanaal
(in dit geval het ijs), de rijen bomen en de weg
wijzen onze ogen de diepte in. De foto is mooi
verdeeld, dat maakt de foto aangenaam rustig en
het versterkt de diepte nog eens. Ook mooi is de
belichting en dat je gebruik heb gemaakt van een
kleine diafragma, waardoor de zon in een ster is
veranderd (goed over nagedacht)

iets van de scherpte is ontnomen, gelukkig is
dat bij het orgineel niet het geval.

good idea to use an F/20, it created the star effect on the sun. if that didn't happen, it would just be a simple bulb of light.
classic perspective for you, long lines and lots of depth in a nature scene.

un endroit certainement pas très chaud au moment de la prise de vue, je connais des doigts qui ont souffert. Magnifique effet de fuite, perspective très réussite avec une incroyable profondeur.
Un alignement parfait des arbres et un contre jour qui maitrise bien le soleil de face.

Hello John, very fine picture, also without grey filter, the ND filter is not a mandatory choice.
This is a backlit scene and is not so easy to find the correct exposure, so not to burn highlights or do not make too black the shadows and your image seems a perfect choice about this.

Shooting into the sun, the image is so attractive in the gentlest way. Although the sun is directly in the image, the photo and its clarity are absolutely first class. Beautifully dressed trees seem to open themselves up to allow a very stunningly deep space. The perspective, which continues forever into the vanishing point, is another captivating aspect of this photo. The scene is so serene, the spotlessly clear sky completes the intended image for this photograph. The elegance of this image is very memorable.

Hi John, I always be amazed with these views of europe during the winter. The the many trees without leaves lined till the infinit. It is not a common view here in Brazil, where the places we have tree normaly a not lined like yours.
Great view with the sun shining in the background. Nice colors too.

Winter is not really my favorite time of year. Anyway. This winter picture is very beautiful. Soft shades of light pink to blue and an excellent composition give this image a very special charm.
