During a rainy afternoon I started making church interiors again, now in Eeklo 10 km from my house.

I did use a tripod and remote control

The walls are completely painted by the Leon Bressers house from Ghent. Painting began in 1909 and ended only in January 1912. The nave is decorated with murals depicting the most important Old Testament and New Covenant characters.

High choir
The high choir and the two choir chapels are closed by a long wooden communion rail. It is divided into twelve compartments, separated by twelve smaller panels. These panels depict the 12 apostles. The panels of the large compartments show scenes from the Old Testament.
In the choir, 40 saints are painted on linen cloth on the left and right: all were born or lived in the vicinity of Eeklo. There is one person who has not been canonized but for whom there was a great deal of respect locally, namely Father Pasianus. This painting on linen cloth was done by Honoré Verwilghen from Ghent, who was a gifted artist as director of the drawing school in Eeklo. In addition to this painting, the choir is decorated by two beautiful candlesticks that are somewhat in the foreground.

I hope you like it
