History of the great Market Antwerp.

The historic Grote Markt in Antwerp is a typical Frankish Square (a triangle square). The Grote Markt has three major crowd pullers, the town hall, the guild houses and the Brabo fountain in the middle of the market square.
The Grote Markt still looks very historic, although a small consideration has to be made here. The fountain of Brabo as well as the town hall are original, but the guild houses are mostly beautiful and successful reconstructions from the 19th and 20th century on the basis of paintings of the former Grote Markt. Much of the historical heritage has unfortunately been lost in a fire. There are fortunately some authentic 16th and 17th century buildings between.

I hope you can enjoy.
