Photographer's Note

This is Peterskirche in Vienna, one of the most extravagant baroque churches in Austria, designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. The church exterior is relatively restrained, but when you walk inside you experience the full baroque treatment, with dense decorations in gold, silver and marble, and paintings on ceilings and walls. This view looks up above the main altar to the tromp l'oeil dome painted on the ceiling. There is a real dome, and it's huge, but why settle for one when you can have a second illusionistic dome?
