New Year’s Day at the beach
En route to Ometepe, the largest island in the world in fresh water, we came too late for the last ferry and had to pass the night in San Jorge. Too late for the ferry, but nearby beach life was still going strong when we arrived.
Looking at that beach, I remember thinking of my New Year’s Days when I was a child. Among other things, images of a village skate ring, -15°C, low sun above the horizon and frozen feet came to my mind. The contrast made me smile.
Lake Nicaragua, or Cocibolca, it is the largest lake in Central America, the 9th largest lake in the Americas and the 19th largest lake in the world (Wikipedia).

Excellent shot.I love the sense of movement you have captured. I can almost hear the kids the playing nad yelling. It certainly is a busy beach!

I like this tropical beach view, but it does seem a bit crowded...and the cars are parked really close to the water! The big, pink float in the center really catches my eye. It is certainly a different way to welcome the new year, compared to the colder climates where we live.
