Photographer's Note
I went for a walk around Hoam Kiem Lake in Ha Noi this morning and met these two creating a snack of snake which they barbequed for breakfast. They did offer and I had to declone, it was just a bit tooo early for snake.
Image has been resized and slighty cropped both sides to remove people.

Oh yes, I was desesperate not to see such a scene in TE, though it's a classic in the wide array of vietnamese fooding : I think you're one of the first TE photogs to share it.
During my first trip to VN in 95, snake markets and views of housewomen pointing which snake they'd be happy to eat for lunch was ubiquitous, notably in the Mekong delta area.
When I came back last year, it happened that most of the snake markets I knew had closed meanwhile. Not that I was hungry for (It's always too early for snake meat...), but this is in that kind of scenes that cultural differences are at their maximum... and this is I think we can expect from travel : pick up small things, attend short moments, like little breathes, that would illustrate there are many ways of eating, behaving, getting interested into, etc, ...in a brief word many ways of living.

Really good shot this one. Very good colours and the depiction of this scene is well composed and very interesting.

Very good picture, Nick, but I continue to prefer Italian food! Really we have prejudice about foreigner food without reason. Infact, for example in Italy (I think not only in Italy) many people like to eat frogs or bowels or other strange parts of animals (heart, liver, etc), corned tongue and so on. Why not a snake? No, a snake is too much!
