Photographer's Note

A capture of Old Quarter & Hanoi's Heartbeat on a grey day in the early morning after down pour showing a buzz of activity there as always. Not much is left of the historical city walls, but this entrance gate - one of the three remains with crummy neighborhood in the background.

This place now part of a big chaotic area with constant flow of human traffic and motor bikes' honking and it's almost impossible to appreciate the gate for more than a minute, as the place is usually packed.

Obviously the decaying architecture gives a perspective of the long and ancient history as it sits amongst the more modern city of Hanoi of today.

There's a saying that, if you miss the Old Quarter, you've not been to Hanoi at all!
