Photographer's Note

MEO VAC is a firm fixture on the so-called Ha Giang Loop, a roundtrip through Vietnam's remote mountain province in the north. For us it was the final stopover before heading back to Hanoi.

Quite a few tourists we saw there, mainly young couples (20-ish) on rented motorbikes. In the morning we woke up to the sounds of market day. Markets are always great for people spotting.

THIS PICTURE shows a young boy at the market, on the back of his mum. The colourful headwear is typical for the Hmong people. We bought a similar one for the newborn of our neighbours (who is also my godchild).

I hope this kid has a great life ahead of him.
