A scene from World Heritage Site:

Here we have just a small section of typical Vietnamese boats in delightful Hoi An with the famous 'eye-seeing-you' trademark. The painted eyes on the bow are believed to guide the fishermen and their vessels safely back home when there is a storm at sea. Colours play an important role here, everywhere you go you will see colourful shops, houses, etc and boats, and Thu Bon river is an ideal place to shelter their boats when there is a storm.

Like in many places in Vietnam by the sea, along a river or on the delta, boats are quite a fascinating feature and it seems that each river has its own style of boats. These boats are certainly cheerful enough judging by the slanted slit of the eyes...
