Photographer's Note

Vietnamese people think they have faithfulness, diligence, sincerity, patience, kindness, and courage.

Four major Vietnamese value systems.

- Respect for age, rank and positional predecessors
Special respect for people who have acted heroically, learned a lot, and have virtue
Expect respect from the other party according to their age, status, location, virtue, etc.;

- Desire for knowledge and learning
A person with knowledge and virtue is considered the most ideal person
Highly educated people who value knowledge and education have a high status

- Commitment to family
Family considers filial piety the most important virtue as the centerpiece of Vietnamese society
Individual unsavory behavior is a criticism of the entire family and ancestors, whose virtues and success result in the honor and pride of the entire family;

- Importance of a good reputation
Losing face is a fatal blow to Vietnam's community society
Personal reputation over wealth depends on social status
Desire to have a good reputation after death

The cultural practices of traditional Confucian and Buddhist ideas are formed throughout society and human relationships that solve matters through personal connections are very important.

Personally, Vietnamese people have a strong sense of community solidarity. Family and society are more important than individuals.
I think the reason why Vietnam, Korea, and Myanmar became colonies in the 19th and 20th centuries and the war continued is because of China's strong ideological control. These countries all border uncivilized China, so the invasion continued. An independent island nation like Japan could easily absorb free thinking and Western civilization, but a small country on the continent was a series of invasions.

China's neighbours have had strong ideological control for hundreds of years. As a result,
I think there is a lack of free thinking.
China demanded a strong "Prohibition of overseas trade" from neighboring countries, did not want neighboring countries to become rich, only forced them to obey.
I thought that if they become a rich country, their military strength would increase and become a threat.

I think Vietnam recognized itself quickly. Nationalism, communism is not important. I think it's important to become a rich country.

Vietnam's economy is changing rapidly.
