Photographer's Note
I visited the small village of Song Thap, Tu Son District, Bac Ninh Province, not too far from Hanoi. I was invited for lunch with a vietnamese family. When you enter in the village you have the feeling you are in an iron mine ! All the people work in the forge and reconverting iron pieces. Grey colors, grey, dirty ... but though beautiful ! There are very interesting villages around Hanoi where their inhabitants live and work in one activity: Bát Tràng-ceramic, Dong Ky - furniture, Le Mat snake hunters and breed, Doi Son - tom-tom, Hà Dông - silk -.
Just arriving to the house where i would be having lunch ( a real traditional vietnamese house, beautiful) I passed nearby a school and the children started to run out home for lunch. They looked at me, a stranger with a camera, different look, and some of them were talking to me. The teacher translated it as better she could; they wished I took a picture of the whole group. i was really delighted. And here you have this group of children with different expressions, surprised, worried, serious, happy, wonderful smiles, laughing.
This autumn I'll return to Song Thap and I'll bring this photograph to the school. The kids for sure have grown - 3 years already ....
