According to Wikipedia the Vietnamese people are descended from a dragon and a fairy. The dragon was symbolic of bringing rain, essential for agriculture. It represents the emperor, the prosperity and power of the nation. Similar to the Chinese dragon, the Vietnamese dragon is the symbol of yang, representing the universe, life, existence, and growth.
Here are 2 impressive dragons in the Đại Nội Citadel in Hue, there to represent power and to protect the emperor.

Hello Ian,
The dragon had no doubt done its duty of bringing rain. The ground surrounding these two figures shows traces of a recent shower. Both statues are fascinating and both photos have good colours in spite of the dull sky.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
The dragons are impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the sculptures of the dragons. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
Like with the Chinese Dragons are quite something in Vietnam, other than fearful creatures for heroes to defeat, I sea.
thanks and regards,

Hello Ian,
The dragons are highly decorative, with lots of fiery points, as well as long, sharp teeth and claws, and deep, overlapping scales, all very clearly captured in your photographs.
I wonder if their forefathers ever found the skeletons of dinosaurs and took these to be the dragon creators!!,
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hello Ian,
The dragon had done his job a little too well and caused flooding in Hue when you were there.
Good sharp pictures of the dragons with beautiful trees in the background.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ian.
Two spectacular sculptures of these two very different dragons, but just as ugly, although it is a very well executed work.
Very well done. I like it.

Hi Ian,
very nice collection of the dragon statues. Interesting marriage of the dragon and a fairy. I wonder how the fairy must have looked like to create a human by mating with these dragons.
Very well done,
M
