Photographer's Note
Further to my previous photo of Registan Square. In case you were wondering what is in the place of ancient madressahs now... - souvenir shops.
Re perspective distortion: I use a very small basic camera Pentax Optio S with a small lense, i guess that is why on ALL my pictures of Registan there is perspective distortion, to a smaller or larger degree... I left it as is. Correcting it made the picture look unnatural, at least to my eye... Any advice??

No advice on correction other than the distortion looked fine to me. This one I also like especially the tiles on the madressahs sharing the feel of the leaves on the tree. Why are these places no longer used as madressahs? Lack of interest?

A very spectacular building here, makes me think I should put Uzbekistan on my list of places to go, despite political reservartions. Re PD, I think it's always a tricky one. I think one of the things it gives you is an impression of hieght, with is often worth leaving in, where height is important to the aesthetic of the building. I usually paly around, and just use my instinct with a shot like this. What I often find quite satisfactory, as I've often noted, is to make a partial correction, but to still leave some in, to give the impression of hieght. I think that's what I'd try here.
