Photographer's Note
"Registan" means "sandy place" as the first Madressah was build in the 15th century at a spot where a river dried out. (Madressah was a Muslim high educational institution.)
Eventually all three Madressahs forming the Registan Square were completed in the 17th century, and the square became the centre of Samarkand life, with parades, festivals and bazaars taking place here.
Taking photo of Registan was my dream for many years.

Nicely taken photo of what looks a fantastic place. I like the light very much - the sky seems to be caught between hope and menace.
Do you have any more pictures from here? It would be nice to see the details on the walls or a more unusual aspect.

Hi Olga, I like very much this place and your photo, the side buildings and the leading line on the ground create a fine perspective leading the eye to the main building, the light is good and the colors fine, it's really a superb architecture !

Wow Olga, you'er having quite a trip this Autumn. Nice that you've fulfilled a photographic dream. Well executed shot here. I think leaving in the perspective distortion helps add tot he grandeur of the place.

Bonjour Olga
Belle perspective de ces monuments, et belle introduction à vos futures photos qui permettront de découvrir un peu l'Uzbekistan...
