Photographer's Note
Children in Sangklaburi are the best subjects for photography. They embody the spirit and soul of the place. Here, I am amazed at how they show natural expressions without being coached. Some poeple may look at this picture with a bit of negativity (such as restraint and bondage) but for me, I look at this picture as an expression of of hope and curiosity. Hope because I can see the flicker of light in their eyes and curiosity because of the wide yes of the boy at the middle. Another of my favorite shots from this place.
(This is not a setup shot. Most of my good shots in this trip are spontaneous ones... you set it up and your subjects become self-conscious.)

Another very nice shot Manny. Three very unique looks on their faces. Perhaps just a little tightly composed, but very appealing overall. Good shot.

i can't help but think of the prison motif here. But we know it's only an impression. Some smiling, some not. heavy shot.

You know I like this shot so much. Very grahic with human elements. Having the privilege to look at all your Sangklaburi shots, this one is certainly my favorite. Thanks for taking time to share your work with me.

Great colors (a bit yellow?) and the situation is great. Two boys smiling and one is in thoughts...
Nice that you left the wood on three sides by the border, and the hand popping out is a nice detail!

Very good shot, Manuel. I like the unseen smile of the one o the right, and the way you kept his fingers on the wooden bar.

Wonderful shot, Manny. I love how the boy in the middle is peeking through the fence, and how in both boys on the outer sides we can clearly tell they are smiling even though their faces are only partially seen. Very good one.

Excellent shot. No, it's not negative: two children are smiling and the third is very concentrated on something he's seen. This is the sort of spontaneous shots that I also like to bring back from my trips.
Thanks Manuel.

hey manny l like particularly the triangle compo in this shot with the little kid in the middle being the top of the pyramid while the two other kids sit down on the floor.. all this in a very square frame... they do not seem in a cage at all for they all smile and look happy... nice colors too;-)

Great shot, Manuel. I like how the boy in the middle is pressing himself up against the 'bars'. I feel that this action adds to his look of despair. The 'half' smiles of the other boys are also good. Well seen and captured.

Nice shot Manny. great colours and textures as usual. I like the way you have caught them with the little guy in the centre looking away but the ones either side looking at you with cheeky grins. Well captured.

No critique Manuel. I don't now what to write. Your photos are achieving extremely high levels. Only few photographers here on TE can be proud of that "pro" capabilities...
All the best Manny!

I, myself wouldn't have croped it like this. I would have left more space on both sides, so it looked a bit longer....it is the tight crop that gives the impresion on restraint, and not the fence..
A shot to learn from, as allways. Did you use dodge on the eyes?
Bogdan.

The center child certainly gets the attention in this photo, but it's also delightful to explore the other, more hidden, faces. So very engaging and nice.

I agree Manuel - setup seldom works and will allways be "marked" by the attempt to arrange things - this surely a fine spontanious work - If this was made in B&W and with focus on the center boy - it would have been a sad image - but you surely full of life and hope. Thanks

Is the first time I see your post. My brother tell me about your great portraits at TE and they are really creative and fantastic. I work in a different approach but you are a Master like a few TE members in this situation, and so my congratulations. Very well captured and the moment is a decisive one for the enclousered children and photo man.
Bravo and my Regards,
Luis
