‘Wat Ban Tham - Inside the dragon’

I didn't want to deny you an inside photo of the dragon construction in Wat Ban Tham.

The biblical figure Jonah (or Jonas) spent three days in the belly of a large fish (some sources mention a whale) and he survived his adventure.
So you will get through the passage inside the dragon of Wat Ban Tham even much easier. You enter through its mouth and climb stairs to the tip of its tail. There’s an exit.

In the WS a picture of another small temple at the bottom of the hill.

The other photo gives an overview of the total height you have to climb to get to the top with the stupa.
- There’s first the red staircase in open air.
- After entering the dragon’s mouth a spiraling flight of stairs takes you through its body.
- After leaving the dragon’s tail a smaller staircase takes you into the cave where you will find the large Buddha statue and some other rooms.
- Finally a small staircase inside the cave takes you to the top of the mountain where there’s a stupa.
This last stretch is the most tiring. In the picture you can see that this part of the climb inside the cave is quite long compared to, for example, the red staircase outside.
But it was great fun.
