Photographer's Note
This scene is only minutes away from densely urban Bangkok. One of the first things and one of the nicest things we did after arriving in Thailand to seek treatment for my husband's cancer was take a ride in a long-tailed klong boat. Bangkok was built in the delta of the Chao Phraya River, the initial settlement was a collection of floating shops and residences. Transportation was only by boat. Klongs are canals that drain the low-lying land into the river and provide access to waterfront properties. To adapt to varying water levels, klong boats have a long shaft (long-tail) that allows a huge range of adjustment.
The treatment was a part of an expanded clinical access program associated with the National Cancer Institute of Thailand to fight a very aggressive cancer caused by chemotherapy, a 'secondary' cancer. Details are here Unlike a clinical trial, in a expanded access program, everybody gets the real stuff.
While it seems reasonable that supporting the body's immune system is a better way to fight cancer than to use chemotherapy to suppress the immune system; immunotherapy has a bad rap. Earlier immunotherapy looked at teaching the immune system to recognize the cancer since normally the body immediately destroys abnormal cells that could grow into cancers. However the problem is not a lack of recognition but that cancer suppresses those cells that kill abnormal cells. For more details on this therapy, look here

Hello Pat,
a nice and characteristic part of the Klongs area with the canals and the long shaft boats to are the main tranportation system of the canals.
Have they developed a treatment in Thailand fighing the cancer more successfully? I hope the health of your husband to be better following their traditional therapy.

Hi Pat,
beautiful place.
The trees look like they are almost blown away by the wind but the water with the wonderful flowers is quite calm.
Excellent composition.

namaste Pat,
an interesting scene. Like the bend looks of those palm trees due to breeze. Like the pond with flowers in FG. You composed it well with nice light and depth. Would like to see the flower in front in full... Anyway it is also a very good one. Tfs.
Best wishes.

Hello Pat,
The image is paradise with these lush palm trees along the water. If I had more light, the picture would be much more attractive.
I make a WS to see what you think.
Best wishes,
Charo

Hi Pat,
the photo is a little on the dark side which is because of the storm seem approaching or passing through. I remember this well also, when the storm approach, there are good result from the storm, it cool down and the wind swept away the heat. And the mangoes will drop from the tree and it time for a feast. Once it drop on the ground, it smoosh the inside and you can keep it for long. Love the way the palms bend in the wind.

Hi Pat,
Splendid lines created by the twisting palm trees which contrast splendidly with the bue sky and wispy clouds.
Lovely reflections seen in the pond along with the pretty lilly pad flowers.
Very intresting note as well.
Warm Regards, Tom
