Photographer's Note
In downtown Bangkok beats the heart of the Thai capital in Yaowarat, the around the clock pulsating Chinatown. There is one particular lane, which is turned into a very busy wet market from sunrise to sunset. Here food traditions still are very much alive as this photograph certainly proves.
Some 4,000 years ago, the Chinese began to use sun and wind to prevent spoilage of foods. Dried foods include sausages, pork, ducks, fishes, shrimps, vegetables and all kinds of tofu. Traditionally, winter is the best month for drying food stuff because the wind is dry and cold. However nowadays most of the dry foods are produced in dehydrators all year around. Moreover loads of dried food in this market is imported from China.
Due to a very heavy workload I have been away from TE for more almost 3 months. I now will try to visit more frequently.

Hello Urs,
That store or market stall is very colourful and so crammed with articles that both persons have little space to move. Good composition and excellent sharpness.
I didn’t know that the Chinese started to dry food already 4.000 years ago.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Urs,
I like this picture which gives a good view of so many small Asian shops, packed with goods of all kinds kept in an orderly chaos. In spite of so much being wrapped in plastic I am sure there was still an enjoyable smell of spices, fruits and cakes.
Regards,
Gert

Sawadee Urs
A busy and bustling, fantastic detail from the extensive food section of the wet market, showing a stall with wide range of dried foodstuff on display. Loads of interest and colours, very colourful. The owner is in just the right place too but the lady can't seem to make up her mind but she coats in harmony with the colors very well. Lots of subject matter here, very interesting and a fascinating background story. Well done again Urs
Best regards
