Photographer's Note

Following the request of my TE member friend Braca, here is the world-famous Bridge Over the River Kwai, a black iron bridge. It’s not the usual side view, no, this is the view of the track in the early morning sun.

Thiss major landmark was brought from Java by the Japanese Army and reassembled under Japanese supervision by Allied prisoners of war labour (POW) as part of the "Death Railway" linking Thailand with Burma, still in use today. The bridge was the target of frequent Allied bombing raids during 1945, and was rebuilt after the war ended.
