Photographer's Note

Another black and white one from Saint Petersburg. This is the Peter and Paul fortress built in the 18th century on a day when we had both bright sunshine but a terrible rainstorm shortly afterwards. The clouds looked very dramatic and the natural light was incredibly clear and bright. The photo is taken from a boat on the river Neva. The tower of the cathedral inside the fortress, which sometimes is called the "heart of Saint Petersburg", is bright golden and it used to be the highest building in the city for a long time.
