Photographer's Note
I arrived in Volgograd at sunset, from the plane window I could to see how the landscape was becoming less humid according I was reaching this region.
I left my luggage in the hotel, one of the largest and famous in Russia where people like Stalin, Hugo Chavez and astronauts were guests.
In front my hotel it was the theater and a statue of Alexander Nevsky, that is very new, at right they were building a big new church paying homage to this same warrior-Russian-saint.
The soil of this city was soggy with human blood, it is a place marked by the bombs, death and destruction, one of the big hot spots during II War, where Hitler and Stalin were fighting by their own proud, using around two million of victims to accomplish their will.

Cheguei a Volgogrado ao entardecer, da janela do avião eu podia reparar que a paisagem ia ficando cada vez mais árida à medida que eu me aproximava dessa região.
Deixei minha mala no hotel, que é um dos maiores e mais famosos da Rússia, onde se hospedaram personagens como Stalin, Hugo Chavez e alguns astronautas. Diante do meu hotel estava um teatro e a estátua novinha de Alexander Nevsky. Um pouco mais à direita estavam erguendo uma grande igreja em homenagem a esse mesmo grande santo-guerreiro russo.
O solo dessa cidade está empapado pelo sangue humano, é um lugar marcado por bombas, mortes e destruição, um dos pontos mais quentes durante a II Guerra, quando Hitler e Stalin estavam lutando pelos seu próprio orgulho, usando dois milhões de vítimas como munição para alcançar seu objetivo

Hello Jorge,
This is a surprising photo from what I think is a less visited Russian city. At least there are not so many photos on TE. It is a legendary place where WW2 changed its direction after the Nazis ran out of luck. This looks like it was quite late in the evening. No people are seen but the many lights and the blurred flags still make it a lively picture.

Hello Jorge,
WE learn, with horror, the terrible atrocities that occurred during the war! You would imagine, that after so much death and destruction, we would learn not to go to war against other nations!
The place looks very quiet, almost isolated at this time of evening. There is a strange, ghostly impression, created by the blurred flags.

Jorge, nice view of Volgograd theater by night. The building has a Greek or Roman temple style with columns. Sculptures are surmonted the porch. A statue representing Alexander Nevsky is found in the median strip or the roundabout in front of the monument. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Jorge, I like the very black sky, and the special effect of the blurred flags as they flutter in the breeze.
The statue of Nevsky is still imposing with the backdrop of the theatre and the dark sky.

Que bela fachada a deste teatro em Volgograd. A foto noturna ficou ótima e a estátua também se destaca e ficou bem posicionada na foto. Interessante o efeito do vento nas bandeiras proporcionando dinamismo à foto. Belo trabalho!

Hello Jorge, Interesting idea to go to Volgograd. of course, I remember well it was called Stalingrad. Important place, where the fate of the II WW changed. With what costs. Nice night picture. And what are the flags? Is this the new experimental theater, as the sign indicates? Looks empty. Hahaha. You were just opposite in your hotel, so you could take this picture in the night.

I thought you just went to St Petersburg, I am glad to see you have ventured further, I am sure it will be an interesting reportage.
This is a charming spot here with the monument and a lovely architecture behind. It was late night but the effect is still romantic.
