Photographer's Note

Introducing and telling the story of my province make us proud and I' will try to share some history of some towns of my province Nueva Vizcaya coupled with great churches.

The town of Dupax, Nueva Vizcaya emanated from the Isinay word "dopaj" which means to lie down in complete rest and relaxation according to folklore the site which become the poblacion is the camping site of the primitive hunters from surrounding tribal settlers which usually congregate in the area after hard ways of hunting in the near by mountains. The first known settlers were the Mala-ats (Ilongot). Before 1725 the Mala-ats and the Isinays live in the vicinity of Dupax. In June 1726 the Spanish missionaries of the Augustinians orders arrived in the locality. The Spanish missionaries immediately begin to spread Christianity but not until 1786 when the Spanish built this beautiful church with local materials – clays and lime stone. The church stand still as the history of Novo Vizcayanos unfold.

In this site also you can find the biggest and the oldest acacia tree in northern Luzon.

Hope you like it
