Photographer's Note
He's 11 years old, the youngest son of a farmer.
During weekdays, he goes to school.
During weekends, he helps his father plow, plant and maintain their ricefield.
As young as he is, he has to learn how to farm, how to help out his parents.
Every little effort from him will make life easier for them.
Here, he is trasporting rice seedlings to the farmers, some shown planting in the background.

Good picture of an interesting and important topic. When I first started travelling the 3rd world (so-called) I was put off by children working. I realized only later that there is, in fact, good child labour which prepares the kids for their adults life and bad child labour which is mere exploitation.
As for the pic. The kids expression is great. The light is not so interesting, but the colour of a rice field is always unbeatable. Finally the crop and the people in the background provides a good perspective.

Indeed rice-fields are also common seen here in Tamil Nadu but the clothing differs totaly. Very great green and good compo with the boy in foreground and other people in the back. Like it Alford.

I like the excellent note and the photo of you country Alford, on this way I learn of you region with the rice fields. The green of the rice plant and the boy in full action for help of are parents. Very nice composition and the sharpness and the clearity are prefect.

Hi Alford, my friend, This is a nice portrait. And really like the notes as well. Really a hard time for kids to finish schooling since they need to involve with ricefield work. Composition is excellent with the inclusion of other people working from the background. The splash gives a sense of movement (or we could say the hardship of working in a farm). This one is a rare catch! Good job.

great shot of real life. he doesn't look too thrilled to be doing that! but those greens are awesome, very saturated and life-like. the people in the background help balance the picture out too. good job.

Hie Alford,
I'd imagine, he is helping his parent, harvesting the ricefield by now. Its mid February now and most of the padi field in Sabah, is in the harvesting season and you could see just about everyone in the family, is working the field.

Hi Alford, An excellent shot you have captured here in this photo. The beautiful and hard working environment is clearly depicted in this action scene. The green field with reflections on the water is beautiful. The water kicked up by the boy shows an intensive working process. The image of a hard working boy is well captured. This is a very well composed photo with a compelling subject. Just reinforces my theory that tiny point and shoots aren't a toy. In the right hands they're very capable of a great photo.
