Photographer's Note
I took this picture when it was almost dark and fishermen were on the way home. The sun has set, but the sun's glow illuminating the water and the sky fascinated me. As far as I remember I used ISO 500 adjustment on my camera. The picture turned out to be too grainy and noisy but it is beautiful. Since I do not know how to remove the heavy noise and grain, I turned to Photoshop and added more film grains. This will make it look like it was done on purpose. I hope this explains the texture on the photograph. I welcome suggestions and advise on how to handle a grainy picture.
The City of Malabon is in Rizal Province, Philippines. It is my home town, this is where I grew up. Malabon is part of Manila?s Metropolitan Area. It is only approximately 11 kilometers north of Manila and Manila Bay lies west of Malabon. The City is a commercial fishing and fish farming center. There are plenty of fish preparation plants in the area exporting by-products of the fishing industries into other countries.
?If it sounds fishy to you, let me assure you, I do not smell like one!?

Only comment here is to maximize the picture allowed here on TE. Base on some comment here on TE, you can removed those grainy by using the neat image software that can be downloaded on the internet.

this is one of those "what-if" shots. What if you could have overcome the technical flaws? Because the scene and light were perfect. That's the tough part - can't always get it right everytime.

Great photo and an interesting effect youve created with the noise. The colour of the image is great also.

Andre, beautifull photo, nice compo, colours, very well balanced, people on the boat do tell us about their daily life in a beautifull way.
I think you overdid a bit with grain, looks a bit unnatural. Generally IMO we pay too much attention to grain and noise, I like the workshop that Mike did, but somehow have a feeling that the original would have been just as nice.

Amoy patis! Just kidding. It's beautiful, Andre. Truly an end of the day photograph - there is some kind of sadness because the day is over, but there is also some kind of joy because of the job well done, and some kind of hope because tomorrow may be another fruitful day. The colors and composition, even the grain contribute all to the mood. Of course you can also smoothen this with neatimage (neatimage.com) to remove the grain and achieve a totally different effect. But as scalerman said, doesn't matter because the composition and lighting are just right.

Thank you Andre for coming over my gallery. And welcome too, to TE. First, I like very much this idea or composition you have done. Graphical, simple and a photographic impression of something of a bygone era. Therefore those grains you purposely introduced. When it comes to photography, it is a lot liked art. There is no wrong or right. But technically, I would suggest a much wider canvass. Say 800 pixels wide would render this photo, a much more comforting and narrative value don't you think.

lovely photograph, Andre
the unusual colors look so delicate and romantic. I like the composition, the white cloud in the dark sky is a perfect balance to the dark boat in the light colored water.
very pleasing setting.
