Dentist shopwindow, a photo from Bagmati, Central

I hope you don't mind accompanying me on this trip to my travel memories.

It was 1994 and my premiere in Asia. A love of first sight that persists strongly, even if I haven't set my feet there for ages. Everything was completely new to me, I felt really far away from home, not only in space, but also in time.

This one was shot on our second day in Kathmandu. We had arrived in the middle of the day before, but we were completely exhausted, so we didn't do much more than finding a hotel for taking a nap and a strolling a bit too calmly just before dinner. It had been a hell of a week for me, trying to finish everything at work before I left, which I only did at 2 AM the night before the departure at 8 AM. Then we had more than 24 hours of airports and planes.

If the quality of the image doesn't allow you to perceive what is in Dr Binod shopwindow, think about what things does a dental surgeon sells besides his services... :-) After getting yourself new teeth, what about going to the shop next door buying some clothes to match your new look?

I posted a WS showing other dentist shops nearby.

Location (latitude, longitude): 27.709,85.3102 (not highly accurate, the only thing I am sure is that the street is the main connection between the touristic area of Thamel and Durbar Square, the historical center of the city)

no, I do not mind :-) I like this funny one, especially because of the funny thing that this is a dentist's window. The workshop makes a good addition here to the humorous feeling. And the clothing (for sure a different shop) just let the eyebrows raise: "Also from the dentist?" What a luck, that they write also in Latin letters.

Hello Jose,
Sharp eyes to notice this brilliant colors in front of a dental surgeon. Whatever they are selling on the right looks like clothes were put under the sun to dry. Very well done and I like it.

Penso que seria difícil convencer alguem de se tratar aí, não? De qualquer forma, ao que me cabe comentar, a fotografia apresenta boas cores e belos detalhes captados, inclusive arquitetônicos. Alguma coisa de temperatura da cor em demasia mas que não chega a alterar a qualidade final.

Alors finalement tu as scanne des images de ce voyage au Nepal! Franchement la qualite est au rendez vous et c'est toujours si agreable de regarder ces images anciennes qui gardent un parfum tout particulier.

Uma composição com elementos bastante interessantes para uma foto, mas um lugar do qual eu evitaria me aproximar ;-) Além do pavor ao boticão, intriga-me esta exposição de dentaduras (já nem me chama a atenção o departamento de roupas) - será que a escolha das "peças" se faz da mesma maneira como se experimentam roupas? Melhor nem saber a resposta ;-)
O fato é que você conseguiu uma mostra de dentes na foto e, certamente, na cara de todos que olham sua foto :)=

Hola Jose.
Una foto muy colorida, me imagino que por la fecha que la tomaste es escaneada, fue en 1997 que se ofrecieron las primeras cámaras fotográficas para consumidores de un megapixel. Tu composicion es buena, una foto con muchos colores y quizas un poco sobresaturada, pero eso no importa ya que los colores en esa parte del mundo son fuertes y vivos. Interesante nota y muy sabio el dentista.

Olhó Nepal em 94! (bem gostava de lá ir um dia) Bom dia José, é sem dúvida uma composição gráfica interessante, mas aquele vermelho está-me a incomodar um pouco. É um input de cor que dá vida aqui, mas está desarrumado e torna-se intrusivo. Por outro lado, talvez cortasse a 3ª fila de roupa à direita e o amarelo em baixo - só para ter uma imagem mais homogénia. Adoro a perspectiva em WS, com as humurísticas dentaduras a espreitar em cada porta, elementos nada convidativos num dentista. Lembro-me de ver coisas semelhantes na Índia e ter pensado - "espero nunca ter uma dor de dentes aqui, porque prefiro aguentá-la do que entrar num destes sítios!". Até se vê uma pessoa no WS a decorar a porta com aquelas flores amarelas, mas está fundida no fundo ;-)

les dentiers a coté des habits, c'est bien le Népal ça , un melange humoristique et bon enfant, mais je prefere voir le dentiste avant de partir.....

peut être je vais retourner au Nepal cet été

elle n'est pas jeune cette photo, un scan bien réalisé malgré un peu de bruit les couleurs sont bien respectées et ce dentist fallait le trouver, bien vu

De très belles couleurs pour cette officine de dentiste, qui personnellement ne m'inspirerait pas confiance!!

Belo detalhe do dia-a-dia na Ásia.
Gosto também das cores fortes, embora um certo tom azulado não me pareça muito natural. Talvez problema de scanning.
Se o dentista vende isto tudo, faz-me lembrar o barbeiro na aldeia, que tratava ao mesmo tempo de outros negócios, como, entre outros, oficina e venda de peças de bicicleta; era habitual (direi mesmo, inevitável, frequentemente várias vezes) ele interromper um corte de cabelo para ir atender alguém com um problema mais urgente na bicicleta. A ida ao barbeiro era sempre uma actividade forçosamente sem pressas, que podia durar uma tarde inteira. Sei que em alguns lugares de Portugal eram precisamente os barbeiros que faziam também de dentistas.

i'm waiting of course, and for others photos from this splendid country.The dentist shop window with above ,make it interesting for his shoppers.In Marrakesh,i saw a picturesque dentist that above his side table had stretched out teeth and dentures Unfortunately did not leave me to shot him.Informative your note too.

Tem que ser macho mesmo para entrar ai dentro e tem de levar fraldas :), gosto mais da minha mulher que é medica dentista :)
As dentaduras devem passar de uns para os outros , gostei muito desta tua foto , parabens!!!!

Une phhoto intéressante, pleine d'humour et de couleurs! De plus, la qualité de l'image est bonne pour un scan de 1994!
C'est amusant d'observer des cultures différentes!
On imaginerait mal dans nos pays occidentaux, voir des dentiers dans une vitrine jouxtant un magasin de vêtements, mais là est tout l'intérêt des voyages: ce que l'on trouve de différent ailleurs!

Jose, certainly the right impression that I can confirm. I saw very similar scenes during my stay in Kathmandu. The diversity amd close located businesses is well portraited with all the dentures in the vitrine and the clothes hanging aside. Different continent, different culture, different images ...
