Photographer's Note
This is Adam free climbing the Gray Tower the most difficult part of the route between Camp 1 and Camp 2 on Ama Dablam (6856m) in the Khumbu Himalaya.
To reach the tower we traversed across a 10ft bulge of rock where the holds required you to swing out and commit to the moves with nothing but 1000's of feet of thin air below your feet not knowing whether you would be able to make it across and not fall off.
After the traverse you come to the 20m near vertical slab of rock, technically difficult and very exposed, which is the Gray Tower. You need to be very focused on what you are doing and not be distracted by the 800m drop below you. It is a real sting in the tail on the climb between Camp 1 and Camp 2 as it is the most difficult and committing section and it comes right at the end just before you reach Camp 2 and can finally rest.
I took this picture from the top of the Gray Tower after I had ascended it for the second time, as Adam freeclimbed it, with impressive strength and style.

I just love the feel of vertigo it gives on first viewing , Adam looks so small on the mountain wall, I am surprised that no one else has passed comment on this picture, You have managed to keep so much detail in it. Nice one.

Hi Richard, Very scary sort of place to be but good for others to see without the risk, Very exciting to see this. Sharp and realistic colours. Well done. Murray.
