Hi Abmdsudi

I'm just a novice photographer and this is my opinion only. I'm also not very good at critiquing either, I tend to be a little blunt. But I don't mean to offend.

You have captured some beautiful detail in this photo and I think his is an expression of concentration rather than wistful. The green post on the left forces the viewer to look beyond this and concentrate on the monk. I know the light is natural, but I still like it, plus you have captured nice catchlights.

In my humble opinion, a good portrait.

Excellent portrait, but I find the expression hard to read: it could even be displeasure - maybe at being photographedd! I particularly like the contrasting colours from opposite sides of the colour wheel.

The monk is really looking sad for some reason. It seems his eyes are saying something. But you have captured his expression very nicely. A Very good portrait shared by you. Colours are excellent especially the Background green colour you have smartly blurred.

On ne sait pas s'il est concentré ou mécontant de se faire photographier. En tout cas, ce portrait très expressif est très bon avec une belle lumière naturelle.

The quality of the composition is astonishing, therefore the disposition of the subject in the plane, such as conjugation pretty colors, the only thing I do not like, is the expression of the monk, as if being angry with that gesture unfriendly.
Excellent resolution and very good approach.

Hi Abmdsudi,
This is a nice and unusual portrait, hte mans expression to me looks like one of annoyance, and at is at odds with the expression I would - probably naively - expect from a monk. But that makes the scene all the more interesting too, and create something new and different to your picture. Yr control on th depth of field is superb.

Les moines tondus se promènent là-bas, silencieux et méditatifs, un rosaire à la main, et mesurent lentement, de piliers en piliers, de tombes en tombes, le pavé du cloître, qu'habite un faible écho.
Très bon portrait d'un moine au regard perdu.

More like a little wishful and determine look. Very memorable portrait of this monk. I like the 3/4 pose with good lighting and sharp details. Good colors and saturation. Very well done, tfs.

This man seems deep in his thoughts and your portrait captures this expression very well. Expertly framed with lovely colour. The shallow DOF isolates the man very well from the BG.

you have some of the best people photos on TE, and I really mean that.

here we have another cool shot.
and you're right, that maroon color is a beauty isn't it.

in this scene, it stands out so well against the green colors in the bg.

and of course the expression on the face is priceless.

Although I am not one to go after portraits, I can see this is a spectacular photo. I think it is the simplicity of colors and their harmony: other than the monk's complexion, there are only three colors, green yellow and red (OK, bordeaux is just a darker shade of red). Very nicely done!
