Photographer's Note
Thanaka is used widely in Burma as a protection against the sun. Walking through the village early in the morning I was able to talk to the people as they got ready for work in the fields or as here a visit to the market.
Getting ready in her modest home, applying thanaka to her face.

I like so much when you photography the life.This is here a nice and typical scene where I like the gesture of the woman with the mirror in a hand and the other hand on her cheek.I love to see the house in which she lives,and I like the details of the sun on the wall.Excellent.

I love this photo showing a woman applying cream or makeup to her already beautiful face. Excellent POV with great detail to color and light. Superb look into a village with what I'm sure are great and wonderful people.

Hi Elaine,
have you also tried to put some thanaka on your face? My friend tried it and then all Burmese were smiling to us. Nice scene. I saw such modest houses in my trip to chin village. very nice capture.

She is enough to attract the eyes but i like the juxtaposition and the apparent bamboo woven textures with lovely touch of golden light coming in. Your usual great work with a candid shot finding the interest in people going about their everyday lives which is essential to make the story. An excellent 'street' scene both in the amusing sense and the compositional one. Excellent opportunist image. Congrats
