Photographer's Note

Inle Lake is Burma's second largest lake. Some 70,000 people live in villages built on stilts in the middle of the water, or around the lake.

Using the traditional style of rowing with their leg enables the Inle Lake fishermen to stand and get a better view of what's in the water; also, it allows them to have one hand free to manipulate the conical net they use to catch fish. In the mirror-like calm waters of the Inle lake, one is rewarded with the beautiful silhouettes of the Intha fishermen as they cast their nets.
