Islands

Earth, stream and tree encircled by sea
Waves sweep the sand from my island.
My sunsets fade.
Field and glade wait only for rain
Grain after grain love erodes my
High weathered walls which fend off the tide
Cradle the wind
To my island.

Gaunt granite climbs where gulls wheel and glide
Mournfully glide o’er my island.
My dawn bride’s veil, damp and pale,
Dissolves in the sun.
Love’s web is spun - cats prowl, mice run
Wreathe snatch-hand briars where owls know my eyes
Violet skies
Touch my island,
Touch me.

Beneath the wind turned wave
Infinite peace
Islands join hands
’neathe heaven’s sea.

Dark harbour quays like fingers of stone
Hungrily reach from my island.
Clutch sailor’s words - pearls and gourds
Are strewn on my shore.
Equal in love, bound in circles.
Earth, stream and tree return to the sea
Waves sweep sand from my island,
From me.

I took that image flying between the Malè Airport and the Ari Atoll, i don't know the name of that island, and i don't want to know. It is located in the Horsburgh Group (know also as Goidhoo Atoll)...and it have all that a man can ask.
Flying over Maldives, with small airplane, very close to the sea is a fantastic travel. Better than flyin in French Polynesia or similar, where airplan are bigger.
A friend told me that only the Micronesia and some areas of Papua New Guinea and Salomone Islands are better as aerial view. But i never went there...

at the moment i cannot believe him!

Ahah, ma non vale!
Prima Tahiti e oggi le maldive (e qui piove...) tu vuoi proprio farci soffrire!
Mi consolo perchè a Milano forse tu hai più voglia di maldive di me, che non ci sono mai stato! ;D)))
Bellssima immagine di un posto da sogno, sei stato bravo a scattare attraverso il vetro senza grosse deformazioni, a me non è riuscito.
Non sono in grado di tradurre correttamente le citazioni della tua nota, ma il senso è chiaro...: accidenti alla nebbia/pioggia!
Aspetto un'altra così dalle Salomone ( o Papua, va benissimo lo stesso!)

a few days back I had a call from a friend, teacher on one of those islands, he had to shift because the island where he stayed before is gone by the Tsunami.
An impressive shot from the plane with all the shades of clouds , very nice colored, makes me want again to go and visit my friend Emmayavaranbam, originally coming from Chidambaram, so thanks a lot for sharing, makes me dream.

Nice view from the plane, I lik ehow the emerald green areas emerge from the darler surroundings with kind of a glowing effect. The beaches look acceptable...

i think it's quite difficult to shot pictures out of a plane. you did very well. composition is very well and the colors are strong. lovely. maybe you could have sharpened it a little.

Amazing view.
The angle of this picture is wondeful, you cna see many details in this pictures, the colros are grate and the ligth is perfect.

The frame isgood makes more deep the picture and give the extrapoint.
