Hi Niol,
You have an interesting idea. Good one. I will strongly recommend you to either use a compact camera with macro mode or use a macro lens to shot have a close up shot on the water drops.
Alternatively you can use a tele extender + close up filter. Not recommended as the quality will not be as good as a macro lens itself.
