Photographer's Note
Kenyir Lake or Tasik Kenyir as known locally (in Malaysia) is the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia. 38,000 hectares of lush tropical rainforest were flooded and destroyed all in the name of progress and development... Go figure!
This is what's left of the former towering trees... Glory lost.

This is absolutely stunning. I love the golden light, and the silhouettes of the trees. I like the black frame on top and bottom too. Can't wait to see more of your pictures.

This is a beautiful photo. The verticals of the frame and the water in contrast to the remains of the trees really capture the eye. The colors and sharpness are also wonderful. It has a very haunting effect. Welcome to TE

Hi! Beautiful shot of this lost treasure, great capture, i like the composition with stem of a tree in foreground and rainforest in background, imagining the present and the future. Nice exposure and sharpness.

Hi Su,
You've captured a beautiful image. I like the contrasting light between foreground and background and how the depth of field suddenly appears to stop rather than graduating...very sinister. Your additional framing at the top and bottom adds a necessary extra depth.

Pity because of destruction. Nevertheless it's beautifuly shown. Regards T.

Did you consider a vertical framing of this, maybe showing a bit of sky above the hills? It might have given a bit more depth to the shot. As it is though, it is still a wonderful photo, and a good note. TFS.

Lovely colour and light, and the stark dead trees contrast well with the lush forest.
I can't decide whether I like the black frame or not - sometimes I think that it overpowers the image and leaves the sides too empty, but then this may be a good thing.....!
Great photo, anyway.
Thanks

Hi Su
Nice to see you dropping in TE.
Have seen your post in TN, cool natural collection of BIRDS.
You know what, Su, it's hard to believe that the images of birds captured using your D70 is simple exceelent and awesome. The details of the feathered are real fine and the clarity is real sharp.
Okay, back to this "dried-up" Kenyir Lake. I hope it will wait for me to pay a visit before being totally dried-up. I have been planning to visitng this place but there's too much cool place for photography in Malaysia that I keep on postphoning the trip.
This is one simple shot of mother nature with a different tone of rendering. Warm and very atmospheric, Su.
The lack ad lost of activity made it more isolating.
Cheers and good day.

a poetic and well composed image, with a concise and informative note.
Beautifull light as well, some kind of "natural sepia" ?
