Selling chickens at Siti Khadijah market
Here is a second photo taken at Pasar Besar (big market) Siti Khadijah in Kota Bharu. In the main building, there is a large central open space with many stalls. This nearly circular place is surrounded by 3-4 stories where one finds hundreds of stalls selling a wide variety of merchandise. Lots of batik for example. The roof high above the open space lets the light get in and the above stories provide many interesting points of view over the stalls below. Most of these stalls offer a colourful variety of exotic fruits and vegetables, and some others specialize in plain chicken or else. The vendors, mostly women, are modestly but colourfully dressed. All these things combine and make it a great place for some photos!

Hello Claude,
I like this one, too! The chicken feet sticking out at the bottom of the frame create a very interesting horizontal line. One chicken has his feet hidden, while another one seems to be confused about what direction he was going in. :-)

absolutely fascinating photo, your elevated point of view offers a unique perspective, much more geometric and detail-oriented than a traditional market photo, what fascinates me most is the contrast between the comfortably plump foot of the vendor and almost claw-like feet of the chicken, the latter feel so stressed, lol :) great shot, I like it a lot.

bird-eye pov carefully executed will produce a unique image not seen in everyday life. market is every photographers' dream, and me included. the lighting is almost difuse here, the results of even natural lighting from above. good compostion and sharpness. i would prefer to have slightly greater angle for full e of the lady. thank for sharing
