Photographer's Note
Walking through the Kuching waterfront along the Sarawak River with Alfred in late afternoon sun, I explored the building architecture around the area. This golden flower caught my attention to present it as abstract because of the color in the sunlight. I will let you decide if I did the right thing by inverting this roof just to make it a different than normal view, as if you were lying down on the floor and looking backward and upward to see this.
It is the roof of the soon-to-be completed [delay again to Sept2009] State Assembly Legislature building ask DUN as know locally. Below this bell shaped roof will be many scaffolding platforms staged for the construction work, so it gave me an idea to avoid those distracting elements and show only the top portion. Thank you for viewing and offering suggestions for improvement.

Hi Bill,
A great idea to turn it upside down. When I saw the tumbnail I though it was the bottom part of a ballon. I really impressed by the clarity and the wonderful colours. A great job. TFS and have a nice day!

Hello Bill,
You fooled me!
I thought this was the bottom of a hot air balloon!
You have heard the saying ' Less is more!' here it is epitomised.
I think the invertion was a great idea.
We look more focussedly on it as a abstract image.
Good textural details, strong colours and sharp focus.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

It was a great idea to turn the photo: it enhances the graphical impact of this roof, as you don't immediately understand what you are looking at.
Colours are superb, an original view!

Hi Bill,
Looking at the world from a different perspective, a very fresh approach indeed. Inverting the image has certainly produced a more dynamic and interesting visual. The definition is excellent so too, the light.

Hello Bill,
frankly speaking, I have kind of mixed feelings concerning the "inverted" view: which would be the "right"? It's just another point of view and opinion! Yes, when we lie down and look upward at the object which is near us.... this is the exact effect - like with trees, for example.
This looks like a very sharp needle. I also very much like the combination of colours: golden-yellow and greyish-blue.
Kind regards,
and have a nice weekend :)

At the beginning I didn't understand what it was...I thought it was a balloon...
Well... as an abstract composition is fairly good: colours, sharpness and light are so fine that makes an interesting image "per se". (But in this case its place should be TL...)
A fine experiment.

Hello Bill
you did the right thing...a good thought behind the presentation..funnily even i have done something differently in my post today :)
i think its important nowadays to think about what we do with our shots after its downloaded from the memory card...tweaked etc..the final results...what it should be in print or on a photo hosing site..the finished work..the moment it show itself to the world around us..could be in office or someone at the bus..airport lounge..
i mean we may have the best results from the sensors..but what we project as our final work is who we are and what makes the photograph special...
this one is simple but with a pinch of imagination..voila..something that looks not to obvious and someone's favourite..
Good thinking Bill
Cheers

Hello Bill,
Looking at the thumbnail I thought it was a reflection in water. In general I'm not really sure if I like pictures turned upside down very much. But I have to admit that this one is very fine and you're right to post it here.

Hi, Bill -
Most unusual and original. In a way, the shape reminds me of a calla lily (I'm doing a series of them in my backyard now), but stylized. Great use of light and minimalist elements, and it was also a good choice to position it off center rather than try for symmetry, which would have been much less interesting.
Best,

such an exquisite presentation of architectural element. I think you did fantastic work here. The idea of turning it upside down makes it even more appealing as we wonder of its origins.
