Photographer's Note

Beside wedding photography, my mentor said, the other very difficult event to shoot at is children at play. You could get one child to keep still for a little while but two, you might not be so lucky. In fact shooting F1 might be a lot easier.

To get some reasonable good photos of children at play, the first thing is good location. The playground on a not so contrasty day provides you with high shutter speed at wide aperture. I would suggest 1/125 to freeze the children.

If the weather is bad and the children play indoor, your best bet is a good fast lens. As you need to get somewhat close to the children, a medium zoom lens is preferable. A good 28-80mm f/2.8 lens would do just fine especially the type that doesn't focus hunt too much.

And always be ready. There would be moment when the children could be so spontaneous and friendly to each other.
