Laos food often is very basic and simple like these deep fried items, which is eating with loads of sticky rice, every bite of meat follow some bird chillies. The food has to be filling and cheap. There is vegetables but mostly it is imported and therefore expensive.

Not for me, thanks, Urs: I'm a vegetarian! It doesn't stop me from admiring this "ethnic still life" however: I guess it looks very tasty if you're that way inclined.
