Photographer's Note
During the dry season Vientiane's still not finished riverside promenade Fa Ngum is not only very dusty but also very hot. There are only some big trees along the quai giving some shadow. Apart from the heat there is the thick haze from late February till start of the rainy season which is hazardous to health. Only few people walk during the day along the Fa Ngum like these monks. Who can uses a motor vehicle. However there will be a crowd right before sunset.

The quay may not be finished but it makes an interesting picture.Rich earthy tones and I like the branches of the tree echoing the curve of the promenade.

Hello Urs - This area I remember well and as your note indicates, it was dry, hot and dusty when we walked along here. After the up-country lushness, I was quite surprised. You have constructed a very attractive shot from what was not my favorite place in Laos. The tree makes a fabulous sweep across the frame and IMO makes the shot. The houses and the cars are quite familiar to my eye, but when i consider the tree and the walking figures in orange, i definitely get the feeling of being in an exotic country. The deep, curvy perspective of the road, the natural border with the bold amount of tree and the walking figures make an immaculate composition.

perfect composition! I like your idea to choice this PoV. The tree makes good frame for this scene. Laos is very poor country but I saw not cheap cars and big pickups Toyota Hilux, for example.
